Atauro Kids

This project aims to enable loacal children in Raja Ampat in Indonesia to have equipment to enjoy, explore, learn and teach us about the incredible coral reefs in their own back garden.

Mission

The Coral Triangle is home to around 125 million people, who are dependent on its coral reefs for food, income as well as protection from tropical storms. It is an area in the very Western Pacific Ocean, through which major currents connect with the Indian Ocean. It includes waters of East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, and the Solomon Islands. Here you can find almost 600 species of reef building corals, almost all of the species of marine turtles and over 2000 types of reef fish.

Unsustainable fishing practices and global warming are the two most significant threats to the continued survival of its communities and fragile coral reefs which are one of the most biodiverse marine habitats in the world.

Background

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.

Current Situation

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries , but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
